OK - with that out of the way - I heard one of those messages in the most unusual places... my yard. This past Saturday I had committed to giving the entire day to work on the house. There are a few things that most of us can do to help the resale value of a house. These were the types of things on "the list". Among them... painting.
What I love about painting is seeing the total transformation that is revealed in the finished product. But that is not what painting is all about... especially not as gauged by time spent. Most of the time spent in painting happens in some of the smaller/less lovely tasks:
- preparing the surface means scraping
- sanding the scraped surface
- brushing away the debris
- then finally actually painting
God, help me to enjoy the process.

Good words. Although I am not much of a painter, I can definitely understand the process in which it takes to successfully restore something to look good.
Hey Rob!
Don't know if you remember me or not, but last year I was a student at Word of Life Hungary.
Anyway, it seems that you're starting a church! How exciting! I'll definitely be praying for you on this venture!
Tom
As I read this entry, I couldn't help but think how work to build a church parallels God's work in us. Slowly, He labors, building and strengthening and perfecting us day by day.
I've gotten frustrated and wanted to give up on several projects in my life...I'm so glad that God never gave up on me. :)
